Posted on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 3:22pm

The RCCC Under 13 and Under 15 Funspiel Finals were held at Intu Braehead Curling rink on Sunday. Junior clubs from all over Scotland compete in their own region to progress to play in the finals.

Under 13 Funspiel Finals

In the under 13 age group, teams competing were from Forfar, Perth, Dumfries and Hamilton. Dumfries, who won this category last year with a very young and inexperienced, team still had three eligible players and were favourites to retain the title.  After the first two rounds both Hamilton and Dumfries were on 4 points with two wins each so it was all to play for in the final game as they came up against each other. However, the experience of Dumfries proved too much as they beat Hamilton to win the trophy and collect the spoils.

In the under 15 age group competing teams were from Forfar, Kinross, Lockerbie and Hamilton. After the 1st two rounds Lockerbie was on 4 points from two wins but both Hamilton and Kinross could still win the competition depending on game results. Kinross won their game picking up 2 points and 4 ends and Hamilton beat Lockerbie, picking up 2 points and 3 ends. This meant that all three teams finished on 4 points but Hamilton emerged the winners by scoring one more end over the other two teams.
