The Players’ Championship, Grand Slam of Curling

The Players’ Championship, Grand Slam of Curling takes place in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Canada from 15th to 20th April.
The Grand Slam of Curling is an annual series comprised of four curling tournaments, inviting the world’s best curlers to complete in Canada. To participate, invited men’s and women’s teams must qualify for the event and are awarded qualifying bonus points during each tournament. The Players’ Championship will feature 30 teams, 15 men’s and 15 women’s elite teams battling battling it out for the title.
From Scotland, both of the teams which competed in the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, Team Muirhead and Team Murdoch will be taking part in the competition. Also attending the competition will be all of the medal winning teams from Sochi, Team Jacobs and Team Jones of Canada, Team Edin and Team Sigfridsson of Sweden, as well as current European Champions Team Michel of Switzerland. There is also a strong Canadian presence including last year’s winners of the men’s competition Team Howard. Scotland’s Team Muirhead are the defending champions in the women’s competition and will be hoping to retain their crown in this year’s event.
Round-robin play starts on Tuesday 15th April and continues until Friday 18th April. Quarter finals and Semi-finals will be taking place on Saturday 19th with the Final scheduled for Sunday 20th April.
Team Muirhead will play their first game against Switzerland’s Team Jaggi at 11:00pm (GMT) on Tuesday 15th April. Team Murdoch will play their first encounter against Candian’s Team Gushue at 5:00pm (GMT) on Wednesday 16th April.
