Team Drysdale Winners at New One Day Ladies Bonspiel

When Ann Gibb and Brenda McIntyre from Inverness won the first Unders and Overs competition with their daughters they realised there was no trophy. Subsequently they donated a lovely quaich. In recent years there has been an increase in the number of competitions for Under 21s so eventually the competition was discontinued through lack of support.
On Sunday 10th March 2016 the trophy was presented again at the inaugural Ladies One Day Bonspiel competition. This time the teams played in a new ‘unders and overs’ format; a team comprising two curlers with under 5 years experience and two with over 5 years experience. The format and scoring worked out by Fiona Hardie and her committee.
Sixteen teams enjoyed a day of curling at Kinross. The format of two sections playing 5 end games alternatively worked well and and the scoring system kept everyone “in with a chance” until the end of the competition.
In section A Team Drysdale and Team Kinnear had Two wins , same ends but Team Drysdale were top of the table with a lead of shots up.
In Section B Team White were clear winners -the only team with Two wins.
Team Drysdale (pictured top with trophy) – Maggie Scott, Liz Glennie, Jane Drysdale and Lesley Johnston were the overall winners with more shots up than Team White – Margaret White, Pat Galloway, Janice Sutherland and Karen McCreath were runners up (pictured left). A close finish.
Winners and Runners up were presented with prizes by Caroline Liddle, generous sponsor from The Shop at the Green Hotel.
Winners were presented with the Unders and Overs Trophy by Ann Gibb.
Thank you to all the personnel at Kinross curling for a venue which was excellent for this Bonspiel .
Thanks to Kaye Paterson and Graham Lindsay for giving up their Sunday to supervise the games and keep the scores (any on- line errors are all mine!). A good day enjoyed by all.
