Team Craig Wins Scottish Senior Mixed Championship

Twelve teams took part in an enjoyable Scottish Curling Senior Mixed Championship at Stranraer Ice Rink from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th October.  Each of the sections were tightly contested. Section winners and the highest up runner up team would progress to the semi-finals. Team Smellie progressed from Section A, Section B winners were local rink Team Cannon and Teams Graham (section winners) and Craig (highest runners up) progressed from Section C.

The semi-final line up saw Section A winners Bob Smellie take on the highest runners up, Archie Craig, Team Craig progressed with a 7-3 victory.  The other semi-final brought together Jim Cannon and Rae Graham, Team Cannon secured passage to the final by capitalising on last stone advantage in the eighth end to take the win.

In the final, Team Cannon of (Jim Cannon, Christine Cannon, Peter Wilson and Anne Wilson) led 3-1 after three ends.  Team Craig, in search of a deuce, blanked ends four, five and six but secured their two in the seventh to tie the game.  In the final end Team Craig comprising of Archie Craig (Skip), Marion Craig, David Hardie (subbing for the injured Robin Aitken) and Yvonne Aitken, stole the single that they needed to take the spoils and the Scottish Curling Senior Mixed Championship title.
