Scottish Curling Mixed Doubles Championship Preview

The first RCCC event of 2015 begins on the 2nd January with the Scottish Curling Mixed Doubles Championship at intu Braehead. Ten teams will be competing across two sections, each consisting of two curlers, one male and one female. Winners of the competition for the last two years running Bruce Mouat and Gina Aitken (pictured) will be amongst the field as are 2011 winners Lee and Judith McCleary. The winners will get the opportunity to represent Scotland at the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Sochi, Russia from 18-25 April 2015.

In Mixed Doubles, one stone from each team is prepositioned on the centre line at the start of each end, teams only play five stones and sweeping can be done by both team members. Play gets underway at 5pm on Friday 2nd January with the final taking place on Monday 5th at 2:30pm. Spectator entry is free.
