Posted on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 11:13am

Forfar Indoor Sports hosted our first Safeguarding & Protecting Children Workshop of the season on Wednesday 7th October delivered by RCCC Welfare Officer Lindsey Booth.

This short three hour course is part of the official CPD menu of courses offered by sportscotland to coaches and sports volunteers and covers a variety of areas including:

  • Identifying and recognising good coaching practice and the implications for your coaching
  • Exploring your values and feelings in relation to child abuse, and recognising their potential impact on your response
  • Recognising and responding to possible signs of child abuse
  • Taking appropriate action if concerns about a child arise.

The Safeguarding and Protecting Children Workshop is the recognised course for safeguarding and child protection training in sport and has been developed and certified by Sports Coach UK. We have three more taking place this season across Scotland:

Wednesday 18th November 2015, Ayr Ice Rink
Tuesday 12th January 2016, Lockerbie Ice Rink
Wednesday 16th March 2016, Inverness Ice Rink

If you are a coach, child protection officer or club representative who works in this area and would like to attend click Course Dates and complete an application form for your chosen day. You will also find details of all our coaching courses here.
