Remembering Sandy Braid

The Farming, curling and general community were saddened to hear of Sandy Braid’s death on Thursday night, after a fall at the Kinross Curling Rink on Wednesday from which he never recovered. Sandy was well known in the District and all over the world. He was a very keen curler for over fifty years and was a member of Orwell Curling Club. He was also a past President of the club and acted My Lord’s officer for many years.
Sandy served on the RCCC Council in the seventies and was on the Grand Match Committee since 1976. He was also part of the group who started the Wednesday Senior Curling at Kinross Ice Rink. Sandy had a great many interessts in the District – a keen golfer who became Captain of Milnathort Golf Club, past President of the Provos Club, past President of Kinross Agricultural show of which he had a life long interest in, Elder of Orwell Parish Church and many more interests. He is survived by his sister Joy and family and his wife Rosemary and her four daughters.
The Royal Caledonian Curling Club extend their sympathies to family and friends at this difficult time. His passing is a great loss to the curling community.
There will be a private burial, followed by a service of thanksgiving for Sandy’s life at Orwell Parish Church, Milnathort, on Friday, March 9, at 12.30 p.m., to which all are warmly invited. Family flowers only, but donations, if desired, to the Royal Scottish Agricultural Benevolent Institution.
