It is with great sadness that Highland Wheelchair Curling Club announce the passing of Past Club President Marge Sieczkarek M.B.E. Marge age 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday 29 May 2013.

Sadly her husband Alex also age 90, passed away on Friday May 31 2013.

Marge worked with a number of charities in Inverness over the years for which she was awarded an M.B.E. in 1996 for services to the community.

Marge got involved with Wheelchair Curling in 2004 and enjoyed the competitiveness and cameraderie of the sport. She curled in both wheelchair and able bodied events and was a loyal club member of both Bught Ladies and Highland Wheelchair Curling Club.

Always with a smile on her face, Marge was a lovely lady who was an inspiration to all curlers showing that age is no barrier to the sport.

Marge was still actively curling up until September 2012 when she played in her last competition – the 1st Highland Wheelchair Curling Triples.

A memorial service will be held in the Crown Church, Kingsmills Road, Inverness on Wednesday 5 June at 3pm.

They will both be sadly missed by all family and friends.

By Mo Simpson, HWCC Secretary.
