Wheelchair Performance Programme

British Curling undertook a rigorous review of its Paralympic Programme following the relegation of Scotland from the World Wheelchair Curling Championship (WWhCC) 2015 and the subsequent failure to achieve promotion from the World Wheelchair B-Curling Championship (WWhBCC) 2015.

Key findings of the review highlighted the following needs:
–    Greater focus on priority athletes to deliver 2017 and 2018 targets
–    Increased Coach : Athlete Ratio

It is key that the British Curling Paralympic Performance Programme focus its resources on developing established athletes to qualify for the WWhCC 2017 and  2018 Winter Paralympics, with an overall aim of medalling in 2018.  Hence, British Curling has decreased the number of athletes selected to the GB Wheelchair Paralympic Performance Programme.
