Posted on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 9:18am

The Under 21 Slam is a new initiative that aims to revitalise and raise the profile of current Under 21 Events. The Under 21 Slam is being administered by The Royal Caledonian Curling Club in conjunction with local organising committees.

The Under 21 Slam will comprise of four events:

Kinross Junior Classic
4-6 October 2013
Inverness Junior International

8-10 November 2013
Lockerbie Junior Invitation

20-22 December 2013
Greenacres Junior Masters

10-12 January 2014

Separate male and female competitions will be run within each event and points will be awarded to the top eight male teams and top four female teams. £1000 will be awarded to the overall top male team and £1000 to the overall top female team. In addition to the overall Slam prizes, there will be prizes at each individual competition.

It is hoped that the Under 21 Slam will improve the current pathway structure for junior curlers, encouraging junior ladies teams to compete and offer aspiring Under 21 teams to develop their potential in competition formats that simulate experiences at national finals. Event innovations are planned including time-clocks, 10 end games, singles challenges and social events.

The closing date for entry is 31st July 2013. For more information and an entry form click U21 Slam Information and Entry Form.
