Mindset is now the primary factor in terms of selecting and training Elite athletes. Commitment and Mindset plays a major role in athletes’ suitability for selection when applying for any level of the Development Pathway from RCCC Academy through to British Curling World Class Performance Programme by evidence that the athlete is actively adhering to programme requirements and maximising their potential by making choices that develop and improve their performance.
Attitude and a willingness to improve technical and tactical ability will also be key factors as will a track record of being a positive and successful member of previous teams. Sportsmanship, Etiquette and the Spirit of Curling are values we expect athletes to promote and adhere to.
A positive and growth oriented mindset will take an aspiring athlete a lot further down the road to success than a closed and negative mindset and this has been proven at every level of Competitive Sport (click on diagram below to enlarge).
The documents below will help give you a greater understanding of a winning mindset.
