McCleary Scottish Curling Mixed Doubles Champions

The final of the Scottish Curling Mixed Doubles Championship took place at intu Braehead this afternoon (Monday 5th January) with Team McCleary (Lee McCleary and Judith McCleary) seeing off Team Gray (Logan Gray and Lauren Gray) to take the championship title by a final score of 12-6.

McCleary earned their place in the final after a 9-4 win against last year’s champions Bruce Mouat and Gina Aitken in the morning’s semi final while Gray secured their spot with an 8-6 victory over Grant Hardie and Rowena Kerr in their semi final.

In the final McCleary got off to a great start taking 5 in end two followed by 3 in the next to lead by 8-1 after three ends. Team Gray fought back with a four in the fourth but handshakes were offered in the seventh end after McCleary took a three to end the game with the final score 12-6.

Lee and Judith McCleary will now represent Scotland at the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Sochi, Russia from 18-25 April.
