Ladies Branch President’s News Update

Posted on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 3:07pm

It’s been five months now since the Ladies Branch AGM and after all the activity surrounding it including two nights at Colfin with MaryAnne and family it was immediately back to “auld claes and parritch” with emails flying back and forth. – Henderson Bishop to rearrange, New Competition to sort, Incoming tour to think about.

On 13th June I enjoyed The Royal Caledonian Curling Club AGM and a night out in Edinburgh afterwards.

First “duty ” was the Royal Highland Show”. This is always a nostalgic trip for me as I worked as a Steward in the Handcrafts for several years when I was a Student and we had a busy time at Cairnie
House.

At beginning of July met at Cairnie house to do the Henderson Bishop Draw with Gail, Jan and Margaret.

I visited the Junior Summer Camp in Stirling later in July . Saw some curling but refused to join in the Mountain Biking, seriously, my grandson was there and I couldn’t embarrass him.

We have now had three very good LSC meetings and a most enjoyable LB Bonspiel. Committee work continues with Indoor Grand match organisation, Areas Review, Incoming Tour and attendance at Board meetings. Canada Tour Charity Bonspiel in Lanarkshire Ice rink was a great success.

I have attended three Asham slams, Under 17 Lockerbie, Under 21 Kinross and Under 14 Forfar.

In the coming weeks we look forward to European Playdowns, the Indoor Grand Match, the Joint ASC/LSC/Board meeting and Priestfield Quaich before flying out to Denmark on the 18th November to represent the RCCC at the European Championships.

On the 6th November 24 ladies fly out to Canada – we wish them good curling.

Club curlers will be involved in Morton trophy fixtures and Henderson Bishop Playdowns.

Last week Cambo Ladies Curling Club treated me to a special Dinner to wish me well as President. They presented me with a specially commissioned Bowl from Crail Pottery with my initials and date of Presidency as well as the club badge. Greatly appreciated – from my friends and supporters in curling.
