Asham Under 17 Slam, 28th to 29th October, Lanarkshire Ice Rink, Hamilton

The second under 17 slam of the season, open to boys and girls under the age of 17. Team Craik are looking to win 2 in a row and solidify their place at the top of the Asham Under 17 Slam Leaderboard. Overall winners secure spots at the WCF camp in Fussen, Germany.

Team Muirhead will be in action this weekend

 

 

Grand Slam of Curling – The Masters, 24th to 29th October, Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, Canada, World Curling Tour competition

Both Olympic teams, Team Muirhead and Team Smith seek grand slam glory against the best teams in the world. Team Muirhead will aim to build on their great semi final showing at the first grand slam of the season while Team Smith will try and kick start their season after missing the playoffs in Gatineau. As things stand, Team Murihead have won both their games and are hoping to seal a playoff place before a final group match with the world number one team: Team Hasselborg of Sweden. Team Smith are sitting on a 0-2 record after two tight losses and will hope to rebound and force themselves into tiebreaker contention.

 

UKCC Level 1 Coaching Course, intu Braehead, Renfrew 28th October

The UKCC Level 1 Coaching course is the first stage of the RCCC coaching qualification pathway. The course provides each candidate with the basic knowledge of curling and introduction to the ‘How to coach skills’. Following the completion of the course, candidates will be able to introduce new participants to the sport and improve their basic playing skills. It is also an opportunity for existing coaches who wish to learn about new coaching methods and up to date techniques. Part of the course involves  an on-ice element lasting 2hrs. Within this section the tutors will reaffirm the ‘How to coach’ skills and learn how to deliver a skill. There are still limited places left on this course, click for more details.
