Events Coming Up This Weekend 23/11/2017 – 29/11/2017

European Curling Championships – St Gallen, Switzerland

The Scottish men’s team of Kyle Smith, Thomas Muirhead, Kyle Waddell and Cammy Smith face the Swiss in the semi-finals, due to start at 6pm, this evening. They beat a strong Dutch team to earn their place. Scotland’s women meanwhile won their last game in the round robin against Hungary 9-3, on Thursday afternoon. Next up for them it’s Switzerland in the semi-final Friday at 1pm, UK time.  (Photo credit: WCF/Richard Gray)

Scottish Wheelchair Curling Association National Pairs Championships – 25th November – 26th November, North West Castle Ice Rink, Stranraer

Sixteen pairs are competing over the course of the weekend, with prizes for both the high road and low road winners and runners up. A special award of a sportsmanship trophy will also be given out at this tournament.

Asham Under 17 Slam – The Baljaffray Trophy, 25th – 26th November – Greenacres Curling Rink

The third Asham U17 Slam kicks off on Saturday with a total of 24 teams vying for the title and Asham Slam points. Team Craik have led the way this year, winning the first 2 events of the series and will hope they can complete a hat trick of titles come Sunday. The top prize in the U17 Slam Series is a trip to the WCF Camp in Fussen, Germany with other prizes available for the best Mixed, Male and Female teams.

An Introduction to Umpiring – 26th November at the National Curling Arena, Stirling

Curlers are coming from around Scotland to attend this course run by Colin Melrose and Harold Forrester. Following hot on the heels of the Introduction to Umpiring is a Level 2 course, which by popular demand is being held at Dundee Ice Arena.  It is the first time that the course is being run during the week instead of the weekend and it hasn’t stopped coaches from attending!
