National Masters Curling Championship Qualifiers, 7th – 9th November – Greenacres Curling Rink
Men’s qualifying has been underway since Tuesday for their section of the national masters which is open to curlers aged 60 years or older. With the top two of each group qualifying for the final stages, there is all to play for as the qualifying draws to a conclusion today.
Scottish Province Championship, 10th – 12th November – Greenacres Curling Rink
The third national championship of the season will be decided this weekend as the winners of each province title gather at Greenacres to fight it out for the national title. Renfrewshire 12th (pictured) will look to defending their title in which play will begin in 4 groups on Friday and Saturday before culminating in knockout stages on Sunday.
Asham Under 21 Slam – Inverness Junior International, 10th – 12th November – Inverness Ice Centre
The third Asham Slam kicks off on Friday with lots of junior teams keen to gain momentum ahead of the national men’s junior qualifiers in December and the finals in the new year. There an added bonus at stake this weekend as after this event, the top 2 teams of each gender on the Asham Leaderboard will earn entry into a domestic world curling tour event. Teams James Craik and Lisa Davie lead the way and will look to secure those competition entries.
Mixed Doubles Seminar, supported by RCCC, 12th November – Lanarkshire Ice Rink
Mixed doubles partnership, Judith and Lee McCleary will present this Seminar. There is a full house for this popular event, which will introduce curlers to the format, and allow them to try a game with guidance. This seminar has been organised by rink Development Officer Jim Morrison; who hopes to set up leagues at Lanarkshire Ice Rink.
RCCC Level 1 Coaching Course 12th November, Dewars Centre, Perth
Perth is the venue for the fourth RCCC Level 1 curling coaching course. It will be held this Saturday 11th November and is completely full, which is fantastic. Curlers are coming from across Scotland and will be treated to a day full of expert tutoring, top coaching tips, fun and informed group interaction and on ice training.
