Posted on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 12:44pm

We have a packed weekend of curling ahead with events taking place up and down the country and abroad including the Unders & Overs, Kinross Junior Curling Classic, Swiss Cup and Braehead Open not to mention a Curling Masterclass for those who want to improve their game.

Three of our Performance Squad teams, Brewster, Gray and Hardie, compete in the Swiss Cup Basel from Friday 5th October. Some of the best teams from around the world are taking part in this 32 team, triple knock out event which is a major date on the men’s Curling Champions Tour (CCT). For more information on this and other events on the CCT visit Curling Champions Tour.

The Kinross Junior Curling Classic runs from Friday to Sunday at Kinross Ice Rink where Jennifer Martin will be skipping her Performance Squad team in an event which always attracts strong competition. More information can be found at Kinross Curling Rink.

The second event in this year’s Goldline Scottish Curling Tour, the Braehead Open, also gets underway on Friday. Games start from 6pm on Friday with the final taking place at 2.30pm on Sunday. This is a popular event which attract a high standard of teams from Scotland and overseas and again features more of our Performance Squad curlers including Lorna Vevers who will be skipping her new team and 2012 Scottish Curling Awards’ Young Curler of the Year, Hannah Fleming. For more information visit Curl Braehead.

North West Castle Hotel, Stranraer, welcomes lady curlers to the Ladies Branch Unders & Overs competition which runs over the weekend Saturday 6th to Sunday 7th October. The Unders & Overs takes its name from the team format which consists of four ladies, two of whom are under 25 years of age and two of whom are over 25 years of age. Co-operative Funeralcare Scottish Women’s Championship finalist and Stranraer curler Gail Munro (pictured) won the event here last year and will be back again to defend her title. Line scores will be posted at the event page Unders & Overs.

Finally, Curl Aberdeen are running a Curlers Masterclass on Saturday 6th October in association with the RCCC which is providing qualified coaches to lead the sessions. The Masterclass runs from 10am – 3pm and covers delivery, video anaylsis, rotation, sweeping, weight control and tactics. There are still spaces available so if you’re interested in finding our more or registering your place, contact Laura Mutch on 01224 810 369 or email development@curl-aberdeen.co.uk.
