Curling This Weekend: From 4th September

The European Junior Curling Tour, a part of the Curling Champions Tour, gets underway this weekend with the Scottish leg of the competition, the Braehead Junior International.

Twelve junior men’s and twelve junior women’s teams are set to take to the ice on Friday 4th September. Amongst them are last year’s winning skip of the men’s competition, Bruce Mouat, who returns featuring a new line up this year. The competition will also feature fellow Performance Foundation Team Jackson, as well as RCCC Academy teams Brydone, Bryce and Whyte in the junior men’s competition and teams Murray and Aitken in the junior women’s competition. As well as the Scottish teams, Braehead will also play host to one English, three Norwegian and nine Swiss teams.

Games will begin at 8:00am on Friday 4th September and will continue until Sunday 6th September,  with the Final and 3/4 Play-off games scheduled for 12:30pm.

70P2751The first competition of this season’s World Curling Tour kicks off this Friday, 4th September with the Stu Sells Oakville Tankard, in Oakville, Canada.

Scotland’s Team Murdoch  (Dave Murdoch, Scott Andrews, Greg Drummond, Michael Goodfellow), Semi-Finalists in last year’s competition, are joined by newcomers to the competition Team Fleming (Hannah Fleming, Lorna Vevers, Alice Spence, Abigail Brown).

In the men’s competition, Team Murdoch will join the field alongside the likes of current World and European men’s champions Team Edin (SWE) and last year’s runner’s up Team Epping (CAN) . While the women’s event will feature current World women’s champions Team Paetz (SUI), silver medallists Team Jones (CAN), bronze medallists Team Sidorova (RUS) and winners of last year’s competition Team Tirinzoni (SUI).

The competition will be played in a Tripple Knockout format with the Finals scheduled for 7:00am (GMT) on Monday 7th September.
