Curling This Weekend: From 14th November

The Scottish Province Championship will be held at Greenacres Curling Rink from Friday 14th to Sunday 16th November. The Scottish Province Championship is competed for by club teams representing their local Province. Each Province holds its own qualifying competition and the winners represent their local province at the Championship. There will be 30 teams taking part in the competition split over 6 sections.

DSC_0049 (800x532)An important part of the RCCC’s grassroots development programme, the Skill Awards Challenge, takes place this Sunday, 16th November at Braehead Curling. The Skill Awards Challenge is a one day competition open to curlers who have achieved an RCCC Skill Award.Teams should consist of 4 people with a maximum of 10 points per team (at date of entry) based on individual Skill Award levels:-Red Award Holder 1 pointWhite Award Holder 2 pointsBlue Award Holder 3 pointsBronze Award Holder 4 pointsSilver Award Holder 5 pointsGold Award Holder 6 points. There will be 16 teams taking part split over four sections.

Draw Ladies OpenThe Aberdeen Ladies Open and The Lockhart Trophy will be taking place at Curl Aberdeen from Friday 14th to Sunday 16th November. Each competition will play host to 6 teams with games beginning at 19:30 on Friday 14th November. Competing in the Aberdeen Ladies event are RCA team Karina Aitken, Performance Foundation team, Gina Aitken and Podium Potential team Lauren Gray. Teams competing in the Lockhart Trophy include Jackie Lockhart, Gwen Prentice and Kate Adams.

logo_startseiteAlso taking place across the world this week are Curling Champions Tour and World Curling Tour events, starting with The International ZO Women’s Curling Tournament, a part of the Curling Champions Tour, which will take place in Wetzikon, Switzerland from Friday 14th to Sunday 16th November. Scotland’s Team Martin (Jennifer Martin, Hazel Smith, Laura Ritchie and Heather Morton) will be taking part in the competition which will host 24 teams, of 17 different nationalities, including Team Sidorova of Russia and Team Jäggi of Switzerland.

32 (800x488)The Copenhagen International, a new addition to the Curling Champions Tour this year, will held at Hvidovre Curling Club from Friday 14th to Sunday 16th November. Scotland’s Team Smith (Kyle Smith, Grant Hardie, Duncan Menzies, Cammy Smith and alternate Kyle Waddell) will be taking part in the competition. 12 teams from Denmark, Germany, Czech Republic, Holland, Scotland and Finland will be competing at the event.

039 (Medium) (800x538)The Red Deer Curling Classic, a World Curling Tour event, begins Friday 14th November in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. From Scotland, Team Fleming (Hannah Fleming, Lorna Vevers, Alice Spence and Abigail Brown) will be competing at the event alongside the likes of Canada’s Team Homan and Switzerland’s Team Paetz. 28 teams will be taking part in the competition which will be played in a triple knockout format and is set to continue until Monday 17th November.
