Curling This Weekend: 13-15 November

Gina Aitken’s (right) Scottish women (Rowena Kerr, Laura Ritchie, Heather Morton) travel to the small town of Wetzikon in the Zurich Highlands area of Switzerland for the International ZO Women’s Curling Tournament. This event is one of the oldest women’s tournaments in Europe, traditionally held one week before the European Curling Championships with strong international participation.

This year is no different with 24 international teams taking part including seven from the host nation itself. Among the teams are Russia’s curling force Team Sidorova who will be aiming to retain the title for the third year running.

The competition runs from Friday 13th to Sunday 15th November.

RCCC LOGOHere in Scotland, The Royal Caledonian Curling Club’s wide-reaching Scottish Province Championship takes place at Greenacres Curling Rink from Friday 13th to Sunday 15th November.

Each RCCC Province has held its own qualifying competition with the winning teams representing their local province at this Championship. Play gets underway at 10:30am on Friday. The finals will be contested from 2:45pm on Sunday.

Asham U21 WebThe Asham Under 21 Slam moves north for the third and penultimate event in the series, the Inverness International at Inverness Ice Centre. This year it’s an all national affair with nine Scottish men’s and five Scottish women’s teams competing to gain points towards the overall Slam titles and £1,000 prize money.
