The Asham Under 21 Slam concludes at Greenacres Curling this weekend from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th January. The introduction of the Asham Under 21 Slam has brought more junior teams to the competitive circuit this season with 22 of those in action at Greenacres.
Teams skipped by Bruce Mouat & Katie Murray have secured the Asham Under 21 Slam titles through their wins at the Lockerbie event in December.
Congratulations to Bruce and his team of Duncan Menzies, Derrick Sloan & Angus Dowel who have been victorious in all 3 Asham Under 21 Slam events to date and are deserved champions in the inaugural year of the Asham Under 21 Slam. They will receive £1000 prize from RCCC as well as Asham brushes; a great boost for the team! Bruce and his team will also be in action at the Scottish Curling Men’s Championship Qualifiers at Braehead this weekend where they will be hoping to get some wins on the board. Inverness winners Katie Murray webKatie Murray, Sophie Jackson, Laura Ritchie, Jodie Milroy & Heather Morton have had a very consistent season so far. They finished 2nd at the Kinross event and won both the Inverness & Lockerbie Asham Under 21 Slam events. Their points total of 41 means that no other team can now catch them and they will receive £1000 and Asham prizes.

Qualifiers for the Scottish Curling Senior Men’s Championship will take place across two venues from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th January. The Scottish Curling Senior Men’s Championship is an annual event open to curlers over the age of 50 with the best teams competing for the national title.
Norman BrownForfar Indoor Sports will host 15 teams with another 16 competing at Ayr Ice Rink. Both groups will play in three sections with the top two teams in each section qualifying for the Scottish Curling Senior Championships at Lanarkshire Ice Rink (Hamilton) from 6th-9th February 2014. The 2014 Scottish Curling Senior Men’s Champions will represent Scotland at the World Senior Curling Championships in Dumfries, Scotland from 22nd– 29th April.

The first of two rounds of qualifiers for The Co-operative Funeralcare Scottish Curling Men’s Championship take place at Braehead Curling from Saturday 11th to Sunday 12th January with the second a week later at Dumfries Ice Bowl (17-19 Jan).
Logan Gray web22 men’s teams will be taking part including 2013 losing finalist and last week’s Mercure Perth Masters winners Team Logan Gray (pictured, photo courtesy Tom Brydone). Tom Brewster’s 2013 Scottish Champions will not be competing in this year’s championship as the five man squad which includes David Murdoch, Greg Drummond, Scott Andrews and Michael Goodfellow have been selected for Team GB for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games (7th-23rd Feb).
The top 4 teams from Section A and top 3 teams from Section B & C will qualify for The Co-operative Funeralcare Scottish Curling Men’s Championship which will take place at Dewars Centre, Perth from 10th – 16th February 2014.
The 2014 Scottish Men’s Champions will represent Scotland at the World Men’s Curling Championship in Beijing, China from 29th March to 6th April.

Team MuirheadThe Bern Ladies Cup gets underway in Bern, Switzerland this Saturday 11th January. There are 32 teams taking part in the competition which runs until Monday 13th January. Scotland is represented by teams Eve Muirhead, Hannah Fleming, and Lorna Vevers who will be competing against some strong opposition including Team Sigfridsson from Sweden, Team Sidorova from Russia, Team Ott from Switzerland and Canada’s Team Rachel Homan.
