In the men’s section 12 teams qualified for the finals and this was played in two sections of six. Ken Horton & David Hay both qualified straight to the semis. In the quarters Graeme Adam played Willie Jamieson with the winner then playing Horton in the semi. Jamieson came out on top by taking a three at the last. The other quarter matched Gary MacFarlane & Keith Prentice, last season finalists. This game was one sided after Prentice took a five in end 2.

Both men’s semis were close, all square playing the last in both games; Horton v Jamieson 3 – 3 Hay v Prentice 3 – 3. Hay did not need to play his last stone 5 – 3. Horton did not need to play his last stone 4 – 3.

Horton v Hay Final – both teams had topped their sections.

A steal of one in end 2 by Hay 1 – 0. No chances taken in next few ends were blanked. Horton hit on for one in end 4, 1 – 1. Hay was forced to take one in end 6. Hay leads 2 – 1.  Horton was short against two in end 7 setting up the win for Hay and his team of Norman Brown, Andrew McQuistin & Hugh Aitken (pictured).
