Asham Under 21 Slam wins for Murray and McNay

The the final Asham Under 21 Slam competition of the 2015/16 season was held at Lockerbie Ice Rink this weekend and attracted 18 teams of young curlers from Denmark, Netherlands, England and all over Scotland. A very high standard of play by all the young curlers made for a very exciting and successful weekend. This final leg of the competition is sponsored by local businesses and grateful thanks go to Dryfe Veterinary Group, Henderson & Mackay, The Butchery, Kings Arms Hotel, C M Kirkpatrick and McJerrow & Stevenson for their generous support.

Asham Curling Suppliers and the local businesses were thanked by Alistair Stevenson for their continued sponsorship and support for this highly competitive Under 21 Slam.

Marion Murdoch presented the Murdoch Salver to the winning Junior Women’s team (pictured) of Katie Murray (skip), Rebecca Morrison, Hailey Duff and Mili Smith who played in the final game beating Lesley Young (skip), Beth Dandie, Jane Barr and Nicola Joiner.

Asham U21 Photo 2015 (Junior Men)Billy Howat, President of the RCCC presented the trophy and prizes to the winning Junior Men’s team (pictured) of Cammy McNay (skip), Finlay Campbell, Ryan McCormack and Angus Bryce who defeated Craig Joiner (skip), Euan MacDiarmid, Robin McCall and Craig Patterson in another closely fought final.

The final outcome of the Under 21 Slam for 2015/16 resulted in Ross Whyte’s team and Katie Murray’s team winning the Slam outright – the presentation is later in the season at the Scottish Junior Championships.
