The Royal Caledonian Curling Club (RCCC) Academy is a Scottish Development Programme with RCCC investment in place to support athletes who are fully committed to a Development Programme with the potential and ultimate outcome of being able to medal at World level.

Selections for the Season 2016-17 Academy have today been announced (Tuesday 21st June). The successful athletes are:

Men
David Baird
Gavin Barr
Luke Carson
Fraser Kingan
Callum Kinnear
Robin McCall
Ryan McCormack
Duncan McFadzean
Cameron McNay
Mark Taylor
Craig Waddell
Ross Whyte

Women
Karina Aitken
Layla Al Saffar
Laura Barr
Amy Bryce
Lisa Davie
Hailey Duff
Amy MacDonald
Leeanne McKenzie
Rebecca Morrison
Maggie Wilson

These twelve men and ten women will be training with the RCCC Academy forming a part of five junior men’s teams, four junior women’s teams, one men’s team and one women’s team; meaning the RCCC is providing support to 44 athletes overall.

A key change this year was that applications were invited from individual curlers and successful applicants form their own teams. Applications were considered from those competing in Junior, Men’s and Women’s events.

Some of the successful athletes have non-Academy athletes in their team formation. To support development of curling more widely, all teams that have an Academy athlete within it will be invited to attend specific RCCC Academy Team Training.
