Do you have coaching skills and experiences that could help curlers compete at the top level? If so, we want to hear from you!

The Royal Caledonian Curling Club (RCCC) is seeking coaches (Men’s, Women’s and Junior’s) for season 2016-17. Coaching can provide a great opportunity to be involved and influence development across the Scottish curling programme. We recognise that due to other commitments it is not always possible to provide the time fully required to team coaching therefore we are also seeking coach mentors with the relevant skills to support team(s) and their coach(es) for agreed weekends during the season.

It is important that those involved have a strong commitment to challenging themselves to be the very best coaches.  Coaches and coach mentors will be working towards medal success at World level and, in particular, future 2022/2026 Olympians.

Technical coaches being sought will be expected to deliver weekly or fortnightly technical on-ice training to Academy athletes at local ice rinks and will be supported by the RCCC Performance Development Coach.

Team coaches will be supported by the RCCC Performance Development Coach with an aim to provide new team coaches with a mentor to work with them for at least two competitions during the season.  Commitment to working with a team and excellent communication skills are required.

Coach mentors should have team coaching experience and a track record of delivering results.  Coach mentors should be able to commit to at least one full weekend with a team and their coach during the season, in agreement with the RCCC Performance Development Coach.

It is desirable that all coaches and mentors hold relevant coaching qualifications and/or makes every effort to attend relevant training courses provided by RCCC during the season of this agreement.

Training days to up-skill coaches in relation to tactics, technical, sweeping, video analysis, team dynamics, nutrition etc will be provided by RCCC to which all selected coaches will be invited and expected to attend.

All selected coaches will be required to complete a PVG disclosure via RCCC to ensure their suitability to work with children and protected adults.
